Behind the Lens

about me

HI!
I'm Adrie...

A photographer, storyteller, mother, beach-lover, and eternal chaser of the beautiful.  My love affair with photography began at sixteen, when my parents gave me my first “fancy” camera for Christmas. From that moment on, every spare dollar I earned went straight back into my craft.  I was hooked.

Eventually, I found myself working alongside a seasoned wedding and family photographer, soaking up everything I could.

Then lots of life happened- as it does. And about five years ago, I picked up my camera again — and as I like to say, “The rest is future.” Over the years, I’ve learned everything from how to frame a moment to how to hold space for someone’s most important day. How to not just take beautiful photos, but how to see people. How to spot the tiny, ephemeral, unrepeatable moments that make up a life.

photography is about connection — to our loved ones, our stories, and the evolving, beautiful impermanence of life.

I believe

my favorite things:

02

garden

My favorite place on Earth. There is nothing that brings me peace and joy like having my hands in the dirt.

When I’m not behind the camera, I live in beautiful Hilton Head with my husband, our two hilarious kids, and our beloved dog, Scout.

There's just something about the feeling of having more than enough blankets to go around for anyone in my home.

I LOVE books of all kinds.  While I don't read nearly as much as I'd like to these days, keeping my books near me helps me to hold close to the dream that one day, we will be together again!

What can I say?   I love writing and I like options!

06

tricycle

I LOVE my "old lady" tricycle!  I bought my first one when I was 29, and It's how I envision my 9th decade one day.  While I don't ride it nearly as much as I'd like, it always gives me that same goofy grin I get when I'm on a trampoline- I just can't help but giggle like a little kid.
