HOW IT WORKS

OUR PROCESS

01

initial inquiry

Simply submit an inquiry on our Contact page for your preferred date and session time (Near-Sunset, Sunset or Sunrise). We’ll get back with you within 24-48 hours to let you know if our availability aligns with your preference.

If your preferred date and time are unavailable, we’ll share our remaining availability for the nearest surrounding dates.

02

book your session

Once we’ve confirmed availability for a date and time that work for you and your family, a signed contract and 50% retainer secures your spot. From that moment, your family beach session is officially reserved, and the excitement begins!

03

Planning & Family Profile Guide

Immediately after booking, we’ll send you our Experience & Style Guide — a beautifully curated resource filled with insight on what to expect during your session. It includes tips on clothing coordination, styling suggestions, and guidance to help your family’s personality shine through in every frame.
Alongside this, you’ll receive a thoughtfully designed Family Profile Guide.

Here, you can share the family groupings most important to you, names, ages, and any special details that help us craft a truly personalized session. This ensures every treasured relationship is honored and captured beautifully.

04

Pre-Session Reminder

About one week before your session, we’ll send a gentle reminder email confirming your date, time, beach location, and parking instructions.

We’ll also review weather considerations, so you know exactly what to expect in case of rain or other changes. At this time, your final payment will also be automatically processed, giving you one less thing to worry about as your session approaches.

05

Day-Before Connection

The day before your session, you’ll receive a final reminder — a thoughtful touch to help you and your family feel prepared and excited.
If there’s any chance of inclement weather, this is when we’ll reach out first.

We monitor the conditions closely and will communicate with you about possible adjustments, whether that means a minor shift in start time to capture the perfect light, or rescheduling if the elements simply won’t cooperate.

Your session is our priority, and we’ll do everything we can to ensure you get the beach experience you’ve envisioned.

Session Day — Relax & Radiate

This is your family’s day on the shore: doll up, step onto the sand, and then simply be together. We take care of every detail—timing, gentle direction, and the artful capture of light and emotion—so you can relax, unwind and enjoy the moment.

With effortless guidance and an attentive eye, we reveal the beauty of your family in luminous, unguarded images that feel as natural as they are elegant.

Choosing

Choosing

When is the best time of day for beach photos?

The best light happens at sunrise or during golden hour (within the hour before sunset). These times provide soft, flattering light and beautiful skies. One of the most important elements in creating luminous, heirloom-worthy beach portraits is light. Along the shores of the Lowcountry, light behaves beautifully in the early morning and just before sunset. During these softer hours, it wraps around your family in a flattering, golden glow — smoothing skin tones, illuminating eyes, and creating that dreamy, coastal warmth you see throughout our galleries. Midday light, however, is far less forgiving. When the sun sits high overhead, it casts strong shadows downward onto the face. This can create dark circles beneath the eyes, deepen lines and features, and cause even the happiest little ones to squint against the brightness. The result is contrast-heavy imagery with sharp highlights and heavy shadows — the opposite of the soft, romantic aesthetic most people envision for their family portraits. Beach sand and water also reflect midday sun upward, intensifying brightness and making it difficult for children (and grown-ups!) to keep their eyes comfortably open. Even the most joyful moment can look strained under harsh overhead light. By choosing sunrise or sunset, we're not simply selecting a time — we're protecting your gallery.

What should we wear for a Hilton Head beach family photo session?

We recommend neutral or soft coordinating colors, avoiding large logos or busy patterns. Flowing fabrics also photograph beautifully at the beach. But, don't worry — after booking, you'll receive our Beach Experience and Style Guide, a customized magazine to help you plan and prepare for your session with ease!

How long is a typical Hilton Head beach family photo session?

Most beach sessions last between 30 and 60 minutes, depending on the size of your group. This window is intentionally designed to feel relaxed and unhurried — long enough to capture meaningful portraits and candid moments, yet short enough to keep little ones happy and engaged. The result is a gallery that feels natural, connected, and full of life.

Where are the best locations for beach photos on Hilton Head Island?

We adore photographing families at some of Hilton Head's most picturesque coastal settings, including Driessen Beach Park, Burkes Beach, Folly Field Beach Park, and Fish Haul Beach Park. Each location offers its own charm — from sweeping dunes to serene shoreline views. We're also delighted to photograph your family at a private residence or custom location. If you have a meaningful setting in mind, simply let us know.

Do you provide digital images, prints or both?

Your session includes a curated gallery of high-resolution digital images for you and your family to download, print, and cherish for years to come. In addition, our online gallery store offers a selection of heirloom-quality prints and keepsakes — from fine art prints and canvases to meaningful objects such as mugs, bags and albums of all sizes — all crafted to preserve your memories beautifully.

Can we order prints, albums or products from our photos?

Absolutely. Inside your private gallery, you'll find access to our professional print store, where you may order fine art prints, framed wall art, albums of all sizes, canvases, and custom keepsakes and gifts. These pieces are carefully produced using professional labs to ensure color accuracy, longevity, and exceptional quality worthy of your home.

Do we own the rights to our family photos?

While we retain the copyright to all photographs, as is standard in professional photography, every beach session includes a print release, allowing you to print and share your images as freely as you wish for personal use. The distinction is clear: You may print, display, and share your images as much as you like — but the images may not be sold or used for commercial profit without written permission.

How long does it take to receive our Hilton Head beach photos?

While our contract guarantees delivery within three weeks (because life occasionally surprises us all), most families receive their beautifully edited digital gallery in less than two weeks. We know how eager you'll be to relive your time together on the coast — and we work diligently to deliver your memories promptly, without compromising artistry.

What happens if it rains on the day of our beach session?

Ah, Lowcountry weather — it can feel like a dance between sunshine and passing clouds. The good news? It is often far more cooperative than it first appears. We want your time here on the island to feel slow, sweet, and full — not spent anxiously watching the forecast. Your family vacation is precious, and our heart is for you to relax and soak in every sandy, sunlit moment. Because Lowcountry weather can shift like the tide — dramatic one moment, glowing the next — we wait until the evening before your session to reach out regarding any potential weather concerns. This 10–12 hour window allows us to work with the most accurate, up-to-date radar, as coastal systems so often soften or pass entirely. If there is weather on the horizon, we will personally connect with you the night before. At that time, we'll share what we're seeing and discuss options — whether that means a slight adjustment to your start time or reassurance that the skies appear to be clearing just in time. If steady rain truly seems imminent, a final decision will be made no later than two hours before your scheduled session. Should rescheduling become necessary, every effort will be made to find another available time, at no additional charge, so your family can still enjoy the light-filled, joyful experience you envisioned. If, despite our best efforts, we're unable to secure another time that works beautifully for your family, your full investment will be returned to you, with our sincere hope to serve your family another time.

What if my kids don't cooperate?

That's completely normal — especially on vacation. We use a relaxed, playful approach and allow space for natural moments. Some of the sweetest images come from the in-between moments and candid interactions.

Is 30–60 minutes really enough time with kids?

Absolutely. Little ones actually thrive in shorter, joyful sessions. We move gently and efficiently to capture the portraits you'll treasure without exhausting anyone — and the result always feels alive, not rushed.

What if I'm worried about choosing outfits?

Don't be. After booking, you'll receive our Beach Experience and Style Guide — a customized magazine that makes coordinating feel effortless and stress-free. Think soft coastal tones, flowing fabrics, and effortless elegance. We've thought of everything so you don't have to.

Do you shoot digital or film for beach photography sessions?

We photograph our beach sessions using professional digital cameras. Digital allows us to work fluidly with the coastal light, shifting skies, and playful movement that make beach portraits feel alive. It also ensures your images are delivered promptly and in stunning, high-resolution detail.

These aren’t just beach photos.

They are sandy toes. Wind-tangled hair. The way your children reach for your hand.  The laughter that only happens when everyone is finally together.

If you’re planning your time on the shores of Hilton Head Island and dreaming of timeless, light-filled portraits, we would be honored to serve your family.
